Cheesy Squash - cooking recipe

6 medium-sized yellow squash, sliced
1/2 lb. bacon
1 small onion, chopped
3/4 c. soft bread crumbs
1 c. shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
paprika
Preparation

Cook squash in boiling salted water 6 to 8 minutes or until tender, but firm. Drain and cool slightly. Cook bacon in large skillet until crisp. Drain well, reserving 2 tablespoons drippings in skillet. Crumble bacon and set aside. Saute onion in bacon drippings until tender; stir in bacon, bread crumbs and squash. Spoon mixture into casserole dish and top with cheese. Bake at 350\u00b0 until hot and bubbly and cheese melts. Sprinkle with paprika.
