Partridges Smothered In Cabbage - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 slices thick bacon
    1/4 lb. ham, diced
    1 medium onion, diced
    2 carrots, sliced thin
    1/2 tsp. rosemary
    1/4 tsp. tarragon
    2 bay leaves
    salt and pepper
    1 large head cabbage, quartered
    3 partridges
    3 small onions
    3 cloves
    1 c. game bird or chicken stock
    1/2 c. white wine
Preparation
    In casserole, fry bacon until some fat is accumulated; then add the ham and cook until both begin to brown.
    Add diced onion and carrots; cook 2 to 3 minutes.
    Then add the herbs, salt and pepper.
