Ingredients

3/4 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
4 eggs
3 tsp. baking powder
3 c. flour
3/4 c. milk
pinch of salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. lemon
Preparation

Cream the butter and sugar.
Add 2 whole eggs.
Separate the other two and add the yolks.
Save the 2 whites for the icing. Beat in well. Sift flour, salt and baking powder.
Add alternately with milk. Beat with electric mixer until smooth. Bake in four 8-inch greased and floured layer pans at 350\u00b0 for 20 to 30 minutes or until cake springs back when lightly touched with fingers. Frost with icing or may use whipped cream and coconut.
