Grandma Huett'S Doughnuts - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    4 Tbsp. butter
    7 Tbsp. lard
    4 eggs
    2 c. cake flour
    2 c. sweet milk
    3 cakes compressed yeast
    1 tsp. vanilla
    5 c. plain flour
    1 lb. powdered sugar
    1/2 to 2/3 c. water
Preparation
    Mix by dissolving yeast in milk containing vanilla, eggs, butter, lard, sugar and salt.
    Cream until light.
    Sift cake flour in mixture.
    Add plain flour.
    Heat 5 minutes.
    Dough should be like biscuit dough.
    Let rise double in size.
    Turn dough on floured board.
    Roll 1/4-inch thick.
    Cut out with doughnut cutter.
    Let rise until double in size in warm place.
    Fry in deep fat.
