Seven-Layer Overnight Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head lettuce
    1/2 c. chopped celery
    1/2 c. chopped green bell pepper
    1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen peas, thawed
    1 red onion
    3/4 c. mayonnaise
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
    1/2 c. bacon bits
Preparation
    Rinse lettuce under cold running water; drain and pat dry. Tear into bite size pieces.
    Layer lettuce, celery and green pepper in large salad bowl. Drain peas on paper towels.
    Sprinkle over layers.
    Add sliced red onion next.
    spread mayonnaise over top, sealing to side of bowl.
    Sprinkle sugar, cheese and bacon bits over top.
    Chill, tightly covered, with plastic wrap.
