Filhos(Portuguese Donuts) - cooking recipe
Ingredients

4 c. flour
1 qt. milk
4 tsp. baking powder
1 Tbsp. butter
lemon rind
1 doz. eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
oil (for deep frying)
powdered sugar
Preparation

Scald milk with butter and lemon rind.
Remove from heat. Stir in flour and baking powder.
Mix well.
Let cool.
Put in 2 eggs at a time and mix well after each egg addition.
Heat oil to donut degree on thermometer.
Drop batter by teaspoon in hot oil. Deep fry until brown. Turn if necessary. Remove with slotted spoon and dip in powdered sugar.
