T.G.I.F. - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 Tbsp. bacon drippings or shortening
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
1 large can sauerkraut
1 c. applesauce
1 large can whole white potatoes or boiled, skinned potatoes
1 c. water
1 large kielbasa (Polish sausage)
Preparation

In skillet, saute onion in shortening until golden.
Rinse and drain the sauerkraut.
Add applesauce and mix well.
Combine with onions in skillet.
Rinse and drain potatoes.
Place potatoes in center of skillet on top of sauerkraut mixture.
Add water.
Place Kielbasa in a ring around the potatoes.
Poke kielbasa with a fork in several places to allow steam to escape.
Simmer for about 40 minutes.
Serve with crusty rye bread.
