Apple Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. water
    1/8 tsp. nutmeg
    1/4 c. red cinnamon candies
    2 tsp. butter or margarine
    2 c. sifted flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2/3 c. shortening
    1/2 c. milk
Preparation
    Combine the first 4 ingredients and cook until candy dissolves.
    Add butter or margarine.
    Mix dry ingredients.
    Cut in shortening.
    Add milk and stir only to moisten.
    Roll out on floured board.
    Cut 6 squares.
    Place apples.
    Fill with sugar, cinnamon and butter.
    Fold dough around apple.
    Pour syrup over all.
    Bake 35 minutes in a 375\u00b0 oven.
    Baste a couple of times.
