Chuck Beef Goulash - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 Tbsp. shortening or oil
    1 1/2 lb. boneless chuck
    1 (1 3/8 oz.) envelope dry onion soup mix
    1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
    1 (4 oz.) can mushroom stems and pieces, undrained
    1 1/2 c. water
Preparation
    Preheat 3-quart saucepan or 10-inch skillet.
    Add cubes and brown on all sides about 10 minutes.
    Add onion soup mix, tomato paste, mushrooms and water; cover.
    When steam escapes from cover, reduce heat to low and simmer for 1 1/2 hours or until meat is tender.
    Serve over hot cooked egg noodles.
