Sweet Potato Family Pie - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 medium size yellow sweet potatoes, thinly sliced
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 stick margarine
2 tsp. vanilla
dash of salt
pastry dough
2 c. lukewarm water
Preparation

Spread 1 cup sugar in bottom of 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
Cut margarine and spread over sugar.
Add dash of salt and vanilla. Add 1/2 of the sweet potatoes and place strips of dough lengthwise over them.
Add remaining potatoes; cover with remaining sugar. Cover with strips of dough.
Pour water over pie and bake at 375\u00b0 until crust browns.
Reduce heat to 350\u00b0 and cook until potatoes are done.
Remove from oven; spoon syrup over crust.
