Italian Cream Cheese Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. buttermilk
5 eggs, separated
1/2 c. shortening
2 c. flour
1 1/4 c. coconut
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. sugar
1/2 stick oleo
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 c. chopped nuts
Preparation

Stir soda into buttermilk; set aside.
Cream the shortening, oleo and sugar.
Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating well after each.
Alternately add milk and flour.
Stir in vanilla.
In a clean bowl, with clean beaters, beat egg whites to stiff peaks; fold into mixture.
Fold in coconut and nuts.
Pour into 1 (9 x 13-inch) pan or 2 round layer pans which have been prepared with shortening and flour or Baker's Joy.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 20 to 30 minutes (toothpick test).
