Old-Fashioned Gingerbread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 egg
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. molasses
1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 c. boiling water
Preparation

About 1 1/2 hours before serving:
Preheat oven to 300\u00b0. Grease one 9-inch square cake pan.
Into large bowl, measure all ingredients.
With mixer at low speed, beat until well mixed, scraping bowl with rubber spatula.
Beat at medium speed 2 minutes, occasionally scraping bowl.
Pour batter into pan and bake 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
Cool in pan on wire rack.
Serve warm.
Makes 12 servings.
