Pear Preserves - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    approximately 10 pears, peeled and sliced thinly
    2 to 3 c. sugar
Preparation
    Mix sliced pears and sugar together.
    Let sit in covered bowl overnight on counter.
    Do not refrigerate.
    Next day, cook on low heat for 2 to 3 hours, stirring often.
    Sugar will turn syrupy. While hot, put in small jelly jars and put new lids on the jars. Tighten well with jar rings.
    Lids will seal overnight.
    Do not press center of lid down.
