Divinity Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. water
    1/2 c. corn syrup
    2 egg whites
    pinch of salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
    nuts (if desired)
Preparation
    Mix the sugar, water and syrup; cook until it will spin a thread.
    Have 2 egg whites beaten stiff.
    Slowly pour 1/2 of hot mixture into the egg whites, beating constantly.
    Cook the other 1/2 of syrup mixture until it will harden when a small amount is dropped into cold water.
    Slowly add to egg white mixture; beat until creamy.
    Add salt, vanilla and nuts; stir well.
    Drop by spoonfuls onto wax paper.
