Coconut-Sour Cream Dream Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. butter flavored cake mix
    2 c. sugar
    1 (8 oz.) carton sour cream
    1 (12 oz.) pkg. frozen flaked coconut
    3/4 c. whipping cream, whipped
    maraschino cherries (optional)
Preparation
    Prepare cake mix according to package directions and bake in two 8-inch cake pans.
    Cool in pans 10 minutes; remove from pans and let cool completely.
    Split layers in half horizontally to make 4 layers.
    Combine sugar, sour cream and coconut, mixing well.
    Chill at least 1 hour.
    Reserve 1 cup sour cream mixture. Set aside.
    Spread remaining mixture between cake layers.
    Fold whipped cream into reserved 1 cup sour cream.
    Spread on top and sides of cake.
    Cover and chill overnight.
    Garnish with cherries, if desired.
