My Mother'S Fruit Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 lb. butter
1 lb. brown sugar
4 eggs
1/2 c. sour milk
1 tsp. soda
1 c. molasses
1 lb. raisins
1 lb. currants
1 lb. figs
1 lb. dates
1/4 lb. citron or lemon peel
1 lb. nut meats
5 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. nutmeg
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar.
Add eggs, one at a time.
Stir soda into sour milk.
Sift together all spices and flour; dredge all fruits and nuts in flour mixture.
Be sure all fruits are well coated with flour.
Pour butter, sugar and egg mixture over fruit. Add molasses and milk to fruit.
Stir until all fruits and flour are moistened well.
This may be mixed with the hands.
Bake at 275\u00b0 for 2 or more hours.
Test with a straw or toothpick for doneness of batter.
