Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 gal. cucumbers
    3 or 4 onions
    2 bell peppers
    3/4 c. salt
    1 bag ice
    5 c. vinegar
    2 tsp. turmeric
    1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
    5 c. sugar
    2 tsp. mustard seed
    1/2 tsp. cloves
Preparation
    Layer vegetables, salt and ice and let stand for 3 hours. Combine remaining ingredients and bring to a boil.
    Boil 5 minutes.
    Drain cucumbers.
    Stir into syrup.
    Stir from bottom until ready to boil.
    Put into jars and seal.
