Sweet Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 lb. sliced cucumbers
    2 gal. water
    2 c. lime
    2 qt. vinegar
    2 Tbsp. salt
    9 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. mixed pickle spice
    1 scant tsp. powdered alum
Preparation
    Slice and soak cucumbers in the 2 gallons of water and lime overnight.
    Wash several times to remove all lime.
    Dissolve sugar, salt and alum in vinegar and add spices and washed cucumbers.
    Let set about an hour.
    Bring to a boil and boil for 20 minutes.
    Put into jars and seal.
