Chocolate Covered Cherry Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1/2 c. cocoa
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/3 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 c. butter or margarine
    1 c. sugar
    1 egg
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Stir together flour, cocoa, salt, baking powder and baking soda.
    Beat butter and sugar until fluffy.
    Add egg and vanilla to butter mixture and beat well.
    Gradually add dry ingredients to butter mixture and beat well.
    Shape dough into 1-inch balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet.
    Press down center of each ball with thumb.
    Drain maraschino cherries (10 ounces about 48 cherries) and save juice.
    Place a cherry in the center of each cookie.
