Chocolate Chip Meringue Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening
    1/2 c. brown sugar
    1/2 c. white sugar
    2 egg yolks
    1 Tbsp. water
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2 c. flour
    1/4 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. baking powder
    12 oz. chocolate chips
    2 egg whites
    1 c. brown sugar
Preparation
    Cream shortening, 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup white sugar. Beat in egg yolks, water and vanilla.
    Add flour, salt, baking soda and baking powder and mix well.
    Mixture will be stiff.
    Pat dough into greased cookie sheet.
    Cover with chocolate chips. Beat egg whites until very stiff.
    Beat in 1 cup brown sugar. Spread over top of dough.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes.
    Cut while warm, but leave in pan until cool.
