Cherry Walnut Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/4 c. sugar
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 c. flour (cake flour)
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3 tsp. baking powder
    3/4 c. cherry juice and milk
    4 egg whites
    2 small bottles cherries
    1 c. walnuts
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Blend together sugar and shortening.
    Sift dry ingredients. Add alternately cherry juice and milk with dry ingredients and vanilla.
    Beat egg whites stiff.
    Fold into batter.
    Add cherries and walnuts.
    Bake about 45 minutes at 350\u00b0.
