Ingredients

1 c. flour
1 package quick dry yeast (1 T.)
1 1/2 t. salt
4 t. sugar
1 1/4 c. very warm water
2 T. margarine
Preparation

Beat the above ingredients until well mixed and add: 1 cup flour.
Beat with mixer for 2 minutes and add:
1 c. flour.
Mix with spoon until it is a soft, but not too sticky dough (add up to another 1/2 c. flour if necessary).
Butter a warm bowl, put dough in it; cover bowl tightly with saran wrap and let rise 45 minutes. Punch down dough and shape into French loaf and place on greased, cornmeal sprinkled cookie sheet.
Let rise again until doubled (about 30 min.), cut diagonal slices across the top and bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
