Swiss Steak - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 tsp. black pepper
    3 Tbsp. vegetable oil
    1 (1 lb.) can stewed tomatoes
    1 1/2 (6 oz.) cans broiled, sliced mushrooms
    2 lb. beef, cut into serving pieces
    1/4 c. all-purpose flour
    meat tenderizer
Preparation
    Sprinkle pieces of meat with meat tenderizer according to label instructions.
    Mix flour and pepper in a small bowl and coat meat thoroughly.
    Heat oil in Dutch oven over moderate heat.
    Add meat and brown well on both sides.
    Add tomatoes and mushrooms and simmer (covered) over low heat or bake in the oven (about 250\u00b0) for about 2 hours, or until meat is tender.
    Serves 4.
