Old Orchard Fruit Dessert - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. pitted cherries
    1/8 tsp. almond extract
    2 c. sugar
    1 1/2 c. flour
    3/4 c. margarine
    1 egg
Preparation
    Line the bottom of a 9 x 12-inch glass baking dish with the fruit.
    Sprinkle with one cup of sugar and a few drops of almond extract.
    Mix the remaining cup of sugar with the flour and margarine.
    Stir in one egg.
    The mixture will be sticky.
    Drop the mixture on the fruit and bake at 400\u00b0 for 20 to 30 minutes until lightly browned and bubbly.
    Serve with ice cream or whipped cream.
