Chocolate Chip Blonde Brownies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sifted flour
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/8 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. nuts
    1/3 c. butter or shortening
    1 c. brown sugar, packed
    1 egg, slightly beaten
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 pkg. chocolate chips
Preparation
    Sift flour.
    Measure and add baking powder, soda and salt. Add nuts and mix.
    Melt shortening in saucepan.
    Remove from heat. Mix in sugar.
    (Add 1 tablespoon hot water if vegetable shortening is used.)
    Cool,
    Stir in egg and vanilla.
    Add flour mixture, small amount at a time, mixing well.
    Spread in greased 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
    Sprinkle chocolate chips over top.
    Bake in oven at 350\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes.
    Cool in pan.
    Cut in 24 bars.
