Buttermilk Pound Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. flour
    1 c. Crisco
    6 eggs, separated
    1/4 tsp. soda
    2 tsp. extract of choice: lemon, orange or vanilla (or 1 tsp. nutmeg)
    3 c. sugar
    1 c. buttermilk
    1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Blend sugar and shortening; add egg yolks one at a time. Blend after each addition.
    Add sifted dry ingredients together and add to first mixture, alternating with the buttermilk.
    In separate bowl, beat egg whites until stiff and fold into cake mixture.
    Pour into a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan (be sure to use a large deep pan or it will overflow).
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour and 10 minutes.
