Ingredients

2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. margarine or butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg, separated
1/2 c. sour milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Sift flour, soda and salt together.
Set aside.
Work butter until fluffy, add sugar and yolk, mix well.
Add flour mixture alternately with sour milk and vanilla.
Mix well, fold in stiffly beaten egg white.
Drop onto a greased cookie sheet.
Flatten with glass dipped in sugar and nutmeg mixture.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 15 to 20 minutes.
Yields 18 cookies.
