Ingredients

1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. molasses
1/2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 Tbsp. water
1 Tbsp. vinegar
1/3 c. shortening
1 egg
1 tsp. salt
2 c. flour or more
1 tsp. baking soda
Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar until creamy.
Add molasses and unbeaten egg.
Blend well.
Sift dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture, alternately with vinegar and water.
Drop by teaspoon onto lightly greased cookie sheet or add enough flour to roll and cut.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for about 10 minutes or until brown.
