Oatmeal Nut Bread(Makes 2 Loaves) - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 cakes compressed or 2 pkg. active dry yeast
1/2 c. lukewarm water
1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
2 Tbsp. shortening, melted
2 c. cooked quick or old fashioned oats
4 c. sifted all-purpose flour
2 c. chopped nuts
2 tsp. salt
Preparation

Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water.
Add sugar and shortening. Stir yeast mixture into cooked oatmeal.
Add 1 1/2 cups flour; beat well.
Cover; let rise in warm place until double in size, about 1 hour.
Add nuts and salt.
Stir in remaining flour or enough to make a stiff dough.
Turn out onto floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes.
Place in greased bowl.
Cover.
Let rise in warm place until double in size, about 1 1/2 hours.
Shape into 2 small loaves.
Place in 2 well-greased 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2-inch loaf pans.
Let rise to top of pan or until double in size.
Bake in preheated hot oven (400\u00b0) for 45 minutes.
Remove from pan.
Cool.
