Punch Bowl Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 cake mix (yellow or white), baked as directed
    2 small pkg. instant vanilla French pudding
    5 c. milk, divided in half
    2 cans pie filling (cherry, blueberry or strawberry)
    2 cans crushed pineapple, drained
    2 (12 oz.) cartons Cool Whip
    maraschino cherries (optional)
    chopped nuts (optional)
Preparation
    Bake cake as directed.
    Crumble one layer of cake in punch bowl.
    Mix 1 package pudding with 2 1/2 cups of milk until slightly thickened.
    Pour over 1st layer.
    Add 1 can drained pineapple.
    Add 1 can pie mix.
    Add 1 carton Cool Whip.
    Add 2nd layer cake.
    Mix pudding mix with 2 1/2 cups of milk and add 1 can drained pineapple.
    Add 1 can pie filling.
    Add 1 carton Cool Whip.
    If you like, add chopped nuts and cherries.
    Chill overnight.
