Chicken And Dumplings - cooking recipe

3 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1/2 c. self-rising flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/2 tsp. shortening
7 Tbsp. cold milk
1 small can evaporated milk
Preparation

In soup pot, cook chicken in water until done. Remove chicken and shred with a fork. Set aside. Mix flour, shortening and milk. Roll out thin and cut into strips. Drop 1 at a time into boiling broth. After last strip is dropped, allow to cook for 7 minutes. Remove pot from heat. Add evaporated milk and chicken. Stir gently. Cover and let stand for 1 hour. Warm gently before serving.
