Ingredients
-
2 2/3 c. flour
1 c. shortening
1 tsp. salt
ice water
Preparation
-
Sift flour and salt together.
Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal.
Add ice water, a little at a time, about 2 to 3 tablespoons.
Stir quickly until dough holds together.
Toss aside, add a little more ice water and repeat until all flour mixture is moist and holds together.
Be sure to use ice water and handle dough as little as possible.
Makes 2 (10-inch) crusts or 4 to 5 (5-inch) crusts for individual pies or pastries.
