Austrian Apfelspalten(Apple Fritters) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. milk
    2/3 c. flour
    pinch of salt
    1 egg
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1/2 Tbsp. rum
    8 apples (medium size)
Preparation
    Beat milk, flour and salt together.
    Stir in the egg, sugar and rum and continue to beat.
    The batter will be thick.
    Peel apples; core and cut into 1/4-inch slices.
    Dip apples in the batter and fry in hot butter.
    Drain.
    Sprinkle with cinnamon and confectioners sugar or serve with maple syrup.
