Tomato Preserves - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 1/2 c. (cubes or chunks) tomatoes
    2 c. water
    3 sticks cinnamon (if desired)
    4 c. sugar
    1 lemon, sliced thin
    1/4 oz. ginger (if desired)
Preparation
    Peel pears and halve or quarter them; place in large pot or pan.
    Sprinkle heavily with sugar.
    Cover in water and let set overnight.
    Cook on low heat about 6 hours or if smaller amount until pears get done and syrup is thick.
    Place in jars and seal. Ready to eat.
