Polly Boileau'S No-Fail Pie Meringue - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 egg whites
    1 Tbsp. cornstarch
    4 Tbsp. sugar, divided
    1/2 c. water
    dash of salt
Preparation
    Combine 1 tablespoon cornstarch, 2 tablespoons sugar and 1/2 cup water.
    Cook until clear.
    Cool to room temperature.
    Beat egg whites, which are at room temperature, with salt.
    When foamy add the cornstarch mixture, a small amount at a time.
    Add remaining 2 tablespoons sugar and continue to beat until it looks like 7-minute icing.
    Cover cream filling, making sure all edges are sealed. Bake 30 minutes at 325\u00b0.
