Velvet Crumb Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. Bisquick baking mix
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 egg
    1/2 c. milk or water
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1 tsp. vanilla
    Topping (recipe follows)
Preparation
    Grease and flour a square pan (8 x 8 x 2-inch) or round pan (9 x 1 1/2-inch).
    Beat all ingredients except topping on low speed for 30 seconds, scraping bowl constantly.
    Beat on medium speed for 4 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally.
    Pour into pan.
    Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
    Cool slightly; spread with topping.
    Set oven control to broil.
    Broil cake with top 3 inches from heat for about 3 minutes or until topping is golden brown.
