Ellen'S Peanut Brittle - cooking recipe
Ingredients
-
1 tsp. soda
1 c. white Karo
2 c. raw peanuts
2 c. sugar
1 c. water
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
-
Cook sugar, Karo and water until it forms a hard ball or spins an 8 or 10-inch thread.
Use a candy thermometer for best results. Then add peanuts and cook until peanuts are light golden brown (they will begin to make a slight popping sound) and syrup turns a golden brown.
Add soda and vanilla.
Stir quickly, then pour into 3 greased cookie sheets.
Butter your fingers and stretch candy by pulling at the edges.
Be very careful, because it is very hot. Let cool, then break into pieces.
Store in airtight container.
