Irish Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 medium potatoes, quartered
    1 lb. lamb neck or shoulder (slices, fat removed)
    2 medium onions, sliced
    salt and pepper to taste
    1/4 tsp. thyme
    1 small head cabbage, cut into thin wedges
Preparation
    In a heavy saucepan, arrange alternate layers of vegetables and meat with just enough water to cover.
    Bring to a boil.
    Cover and simmer over low heat for 2 to 2 1/2 hours or until all is tender.
    Shake pan now and then to prevent sticking.
    Serves 4.
