Orange Liqueur - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 navel oranges
    3 c. vodka, divided
    1 1/2 c. superfine granulated sugar
Preparation
    Pare very thinly the brightly colored rind from the oranges (no white).
    Blot peel on paper towel to remove any excess oil.
    Put peel in a four cup, screw-type jar.
    Add two cups vodka.
    Close jar.
    Store in a cool, dark place for 2 days or until vodka has absorbed the flavor and color of the peel.
    Remove peel; add sugar and shake vigorously until sugar dissolves.
    Add remaining cup of vodka and stir until liquid becomes clear.
    Close jar and cool in a cool, dark place.
