Ingredients

1/2 c. butter (oleo), soft
1/4 lb. grated Cheddar cheese
1 c. sifted flour
1 box dates (7 1/4 oz.), cut into pieces
1/2 c. light brown sugar
1/4 c. water
Preparation

Cream butter and cheese.
Gradually add flour, mixing to make a soft dough.
Shape into smooth rounds and chill for an hour. Combine dates, sugar and water in saucepan (can add chopped nuts, if you want to).
Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until soft (about 5 minutes).
Cool.
Roll chilled dough (take out of refrigerator a little at a time) on floured surface.
Cut into a small round.
Place a teaspoon of date mixture on half of rounds. Fold and seal edges with a fork.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 15 to 18 minutes or until light golden brown.
May freeze.
