Corn Dogs - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sifted flour
    1/2 Tbsp. sugar
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    few grains black pepper
    1/8 tsp. garlic salt
    2/3 c. cornmeal
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    2/3 c. milk
Preparation
    Sift together first 6 ingredients.
    Stir in meal.
    Add 2 tablespoons shortening.
    Mix well.
    Slightly beat egg and add milk.
    Add to mixture and mix well.
    Using a spatula, spread each frankfurter with batter until evenly coated.
    Deep fry as many at one time that will float uncrowded.
    Makes 20 to 22.
