Ingredients

1 c. butter or margarine
2 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. each cinnamon and nutmeg
1/4 tsp. salt
1 large egg
1/4 c. plus 1 Tbsp. water
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 c. molasses
3 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
Preparation

Melt butter and let cool to room temperature. In a large mixing bowl, combine butter, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and egg; beat well. In a small bowl, combine water and soda and add to creamed mixture. Stir in molasses and flour; blend well. Drop dough by teaspoon onto a greased cookie sheet. Space about 3-inches apart. Bake in 350\u00b0 oven for 7 to 9 minutes. Let cool completely before storing.
