Empire Biscuits - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. butter
1 egg
2 c. all-purpose flour
raspberry jam
1/4 tsp. almond extract
candied cherries
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. icing sugar, sifted
1 Tbsp. (approximately) hot water
Preparation

Cream butter and add sugar, creaming well.
Beat in egg and vanilla.
Combine flour and baking powder; gradually add to creamed mixture.
On lightly floured surface, roll out dough to 1/8-inch thick.
Cut into 2-inch rounds.
Place on ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake in 350\u00b0 oven for about 10 minutes, or until very lightly brown at edges.
Let cool thoroughly.
Spread half the cookies with jam; top with remaining cookies.
