Barbara Bush'S Old Fashioned Bread Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 slices raisin bread, lightly spread with butter or margarine
    1/2 to 3/4 c. sugar, mixed with 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1 qt. milk (whole, 2% or skim), mixed with 2 tsp. vanilla and 1/2 tsp. salt
    4 eggs, beaten, or 1 c. egg substitute
    extra raisins or fruit to taste
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Butter a 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
    Cut raisin bread into quarters.
    Put 1 layer of bread in dish; sprinkle with sugar mixture and raisins.
    Continue to alternate bread and sugar and raisin mixture until dish is full.
    Pour milk mixed with vanilla, salt and eggs over all; bake until puffed and lightly browned, about 30 minutes.
    Yields 12 servings.
