Grandma'S Shortcake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 egg
    1/2 c. milk
    1/4 c. shortening
Preparation
    Mix all ingredients together by hand.
    Pour batter into a 9 x 9-inch pan and bake at 350\u00b0 until it is golden brown on top. Serve warm or cold with fresh fruit such as strawberries, blueberries, raspberries or peaches and milk.
    If cherries are used, remove the seeds and bake the cherries in the cake.
