Scottish Shortbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter
    1/2 c. sugar
    2 1/2 to 3 c. flour
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 300\u00b0.
    Cream butter and sugar.
    Add flour, one cup at a time, to make a stiff dough.
    Spread in pan to form a circle and flute the edge. Prick with a fork and mark 16 wedge shaped pieces.
    Bake for 40 minutes or until golden brown.
    While hot, cut into 16 wedges as marked.
    Sprinkle with sugar if desired.
    Makes 16 pieces.
