Scones - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3 Tbsp. sugar
    1 tsp. cream of tartar
    1 tsp. baking soda
    6 Tbsp. shortening
    2/3 c. sour milk or sour cream (use buttermilk if available)
Preparation
    Sift flour and measure; sift all dry ingredients.
    Cut in shortening with pastry blender and finish working it in with the tips of the fingers.
    Add milk and mix to a soft dough.
    Knead lightly, cut in half, shape each piece into a round, roll out and try to keep in nice shape.
    Cut in four.
    Bake on a moderate griddle until evenly browned.
    Makes 16 triangular scones.
