Hopping John - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (No. 300) can field peas with snaps
    1/4 c. chopped onion
    dash of cayenne pepper
    1 tsp. margarine or bacon drippings
    2 c. hot cooked rice
Preparation
    Do not drain peas.
    Bring peas and seasoning to a boil.
    Stir gently.
    Simmer on low heat 15 minutes.
    Serve peas and broth over hot buttered rice.
    If possible, prepare peas an hour or so before mealtime, then reheat when ready to serve.
