Fruit Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. raisins
    1 1/2 c. dates, cut up
    2 c. sugar
    2 c. boiling water
    5 Tbsp. shortening
    3 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    2 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. cloves
    1 tsp. salt
    1 small jar cherries, drained well and cut in pieces
    1 c. walnuts or pecans
Preparation
    Combine raisins, dates, sugar and shortening in bowl.
    Pour boiling water over this.
    Let cool 20 minutes.
    Sift flour, soda, salt and spices and stir into first mixture.
    Add cherries and walnuts or pecans.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 for 1 1/2 hours in angel food pan (greased).
