"Refrigerator Pickles" - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 qt. cucumbers, sliced thin
    1 1/2 c. pickling salt (not iodized)
    3 medium onions, sliced thin
    3 c. sugar
    1 1/2 c. white vinegar
    1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
    1 1/2 tsp. mustard seed
Preparation
    Wash cucumbers; soak in ice cold water (salt water) with onions.
    Bring the sugar, vinegar, celery and mustard seed to a boil to make a syrup.
    Let the cucumbers soak until the syrup is cooled.
    Drain off salt water.
    Pour syrup over cucumbers and pack in jars.
    Refrigerate.
    Leave some room at the top of the jar.
